How the Internet Affects Art from the Perspective of the Relationship Between Artists and Audiences Using the Covid Art Museum as an exemplar

Abstract


With the continuous development of Internet information technology, online art has become a new landscape of contemporary art. The sudden outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a turning point in the development of online art since various art categories began to move to cyberspace during the quarantine. This paper selects an online museum during the epidemic period to explore the impact of the Internet on online art from the perspective of artists and audiences. The research found that the Internet makes the distance between artists and the audience closer, but the connection between the audience and the works of art becomes very weak. This is mainly due to the characteristics of the Internet itself, and these characteristics also make the online art realize the three in one action of “creation-exhibition -communication”, which cannot be realized by the traditional offline art, thus becoming a unique art form.
