The Introduction of the Special Issue The stringent environmental regulations for controlling sulfur content of fuels have led to the growth of research in the development of an effective and economical methods for deep desulfurization of fuels. Deep desulphurization with current conventional methods can hardly be economically. Thus, alternative methods for obtaining ultra-low sulfur fuel oil are in the developing stage and research continues in the field of both new catalysts and new catalytic technologies to meet the vast need for cleaner fuels.
