Bio Statement  

Erhard Stefan Hoffmann was born March 26, 1954 in Rülzheim, Rhineland-Palatinate. Federal  Republic of Germany.  After high school he started Studies of Civil Engineering, University of Karlsruhe (TH) in 19 74 at the, University of Karlsruhe (TH) in 1974/1975. He graduated  in Civil Engineering at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) in1982.  Then he started his professional  life in 1982 as a Graduate Assistant in the Field of Water Quality Modelling at the University of Karlsruhe, where I stayed until 1991 (from 1983 – 1984 as Research Associate in the DFG Special Research Project „Fluid Mechanics and Reactor Dimensioning” and as lecturer for the course „Principles of Environmental Engineering. From 1984 – 1989 as Associate Professor at the Institute of Aquatic Environmental Engineering, University of Karlsruhe (TH) . Later on, until 1991  as Engineer-in-chief  at the Institute of Aquatic Environmental Engineering, University of Karlsruhe (TH).

1991 – 1994: Self employed activities in the field of water supply; water- and  wastewater treatment and technology, waste management and – treatment as well as leachate treatment  

1994 – 1997: Associate Professor at the Institute of Aquatic Environmental Engineering, University of Karlsruhe (TH) .

1997  until  2000:Assistant Professor and  Head of the Process Technology Group

 2001-2002: Freelancer and consultant in the field of municipal and industrial  Wastewater Treatment, predominant in the North of Greece  and  North Macedonia

 July 2002- April 2004:t Assistant Professor and, Head of the Process Technology Group at the KIT, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology the former University of Karlsruhe (TH)

 

Since May 2004-Present: Adjunct Professor  and Head of the Process Technology Group and of  the Semi and Decentralized Systems Group.

Supervision of students and doctoral students:

Supervisor of more than 125 Diploma and  Master Thesis.

Co-supervisor of about 10 doctoral students from Germany, China, India, Egypt, Morocco, Poland, Togo and Russia.

Publications:    More than 100 reviewed and published contributionsas author and co-author in the field of environmental sciences and technology

Editor:     Editor of two book series (Springer, IWA and Oldenbourg Publ. Companies)

Awards: 1983 Price of the Oswald-Schulze-Foundation for an outstanding Diploma Thesis „Laboratory Investigations About the Conversion and Degradation Activities in a Dammed River

Since 2004:: Member of the  DWA Expert Committee “ Wastewater Precipitation and Flocculation”.

 

Since 1996: Voluntary Teacher for Education and Training of the Operational Staff of Wastewater Treatment Plants in Baden-Württemberg
